Arson is defined as maliciously and willfully setting fire to, causing to burn or aid or counseling or in burning a structure, forest land or property.
If arson results in great bodily harm to another, it is considered a felony punishable by imprisonment in a California prison for up to nine years, however the sentence may vary depending on the specific circumstances.
If a person sets fire to a structure or forest land, they may receive up to six years in prison and a fine.
